Critical Reflection

 Module Learning

In the earlier part of the module, I have set the goal to improve my technical writing and presentation skills. Coming to the end of this module, I would not say that I have perfected my writing, but I have definitely learned more about the various approaches that help to brush up my writing. The writing assessments have aided in the improvement of my writing proficiency, where tones, formalities, and other aspects (such as choice of words) have to be taken into consideration. Beyond this class, I would hope to enhance my summary writing skill with further practice on article review on my own time.  On the other hand, my presentation skill is definitely something that I will need to brush up on. Although I am not afraid to present myself, I note that I am still lacking in small little areas such as body language and eye contact when presenting. These flaws may seem to be minor, but the way that I portray myself during presentations will make a huge difference in terms of confidence. There weren’t many opportunities for me to brush up on my presentation skill this time, but I have managed to see what are areas that I am lacking. As such, I will need to place more attention to these aspects when it comes to the next presentation. Beyond this class, I would hope to work on these weaknesses with ample practice, perhaps doing the recording of my practices would help. I hope to achieve improvements when it comes to the capstone project.

Project Learning

Working in a group is not an easy task, especially when each and every individual of different personalities and of different backgrounds have to come together to achieve a common goal. Throughout the group assignment, having a leader that provides directions for the team has made the progression of the project a lot smoother. Ben has done a great job in leading the team, having an oriented schedule of tasks to be done allows us to have a clearer picture of what to expect each week. Venus and Hakim are also great members of the team that actively provides ideas and opinions and engage in team discussion. The most tedious part of the assignment was the research work to gather information for the chosen topic, appropriate task delegation enhances the efficiency of completing the assignment and eases the workload on each of us. Working in a team there will be plenty of ideas and opinions from team members, and communication becomes critically important to bring messages across so that each member understands the point of view of one another. Dealing with individuals of different personalities, the ways of approaching and convincing them when there is a discrepancy in understanding will differ depending on the situation. All of which that were mentioned earlier on will only work with the fundamental of mutual respect for each individual. In all, it was a pleasant experience working with the members, the team could not have made it without the effort of each individual.
