Dear Professor Fazilah,
My name is Shin Wei, this letter is an introduction for you to
understand me better. I have graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic back in 2020. Unlike
most of the other courses, the decision of obtaining a diploma in Mechanical
Engineering with Business Management allowed me to explore the different industries
of business and engineering as well as understand the diversity and
correlation between them. After careful considerations based on my experiences, I decided
to further study in the engineering field knowing that I have a greater interest
in designing and engineering topics over business modules. Currently, I am a first-year undergraduate with the Singapore Institute of Technology, pursuing a degree in
Mechanical Engineering.
With prior learning about the interconnection between business and
engineering, I can safely say that communication is an inevitable process and it
is essential that each and every engineer be equipped with the proper communication
skill set.
One strength of my communication is the confidence that I have to
speak in front of a crowd while making eye contact with the audience. In addition,
I refrain from excessive body movements while speaking, using hand gestures
only when necessary. For instance, when emphasizing important points of my
speech. On the other hand, the ability to choose the right words of speech is one of my
weaknesses that I would want to improve on.
In this module, I hope to improve on my report wring skills as
well as my ability to relay messages in a clear and concise manner. These
skills are especially crucial to engineers who often need to explain ideas and
products to clients without prior knowledge. Thus, equipping myself with these skills
enables me to be better prepared for my future career where report writing and presentation
skills are essential.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
Yours sincerely
Shin Wei
Dear Shin Wei,
ReplyDeleteExcellent job on writing such a well-written formal letter. I definitely know you better through this letter. In terms of sentence structure, detailed explanation, and fluency, you had portrayed it very well! but only I felt that under the contact information of the person named at the first sentence of the top left side of your formal letter, you should address as Mdm. Fazilah Binte Mohamed Ismail instead. Other than that, it was a well-written formal letter.
I look forward to interacting and learning more from you in and outside of class.
Yours sincerely,
Tan Junze
